Motivated by the demands of food safety and personalized nutrition, and based on foodomics and human health data, the FSC is currently focusing on three research themes
AGIS-CAAS

As the home institute for the FSC, AGIS has made remarkable
contributions to the fields of agricultural genomics, animal and plant breeding, and animal and plant health. The largest super-computing platform dedicated to agriculture research in China has been built. AGIS has published more than 200 papers in international journals, includng Science, Nature, Cell and Nature Genetics. These achievements have helped the nation to establish today's international reputation in the field of agricultural genomics.

The FSC’s facilities and infrastructures have received strong support from the nation, which has formulated a series of plans and policies to facilitate the development of a next-generation food industry. For example, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has appointed AGIS as a pilot unit for the National Reform of Agriculture Research System, in analogy with a Special Economic Zone (as the city of Shenzhen stands today), which has made significant contributions to the opening and revival of the Chinese economy. As the leading innovation city in China, Shenzhen, where the center is being constructed, has promised a series of favorable policies in land use, funding distribution, talent recruitment, and innovation stimulus packages.
